My inspiration comes from a photo display my mother sleeping soundly on the sofa after her work. Her soul seems to have detached from her body and become part of the sofa. I regard a sofa as the most representative domestic item, implying the existence of the dwellers and recording the traces of their movements. People tent to linger when there is a sofa. When people snuggle down on the sofa, gradually sinking into it in the most comfortable posture and forgetting the existence of the body. By creating this work, I attempt to interpret this aura from the sleeping person and sofa. ‘Sofa’ is a furniture with the sunken made by dwellers. ‘Sleeping woman’ combines the shape of human and quilt. ‘Her face’ freezes time using methods of textile and sculpture. For me, the series of works have a kind of rituality. I take ‘the trace and the body in textiles’ as the core, to continue my attention and research.
